The wind sensor is a device used to measure the wind speed and wind direction. It is small and light, easy to carry and assemble. According to the working principle, it can be roughly divided into mechanical wind speed sensor, also called cup anemometer and ultrasonic wind speed sensor. It can effectively obtain wind speed and direction information. The shell is made of high-quality aluminum alloy profiles or ASA materials, which are rain-proof, corrosion-resistant and anti-aging. It is a convenient, safe and reliable intelligent instrument. Wind sensor application mainly used in meteorology, agriculture, ships and other fields, can be used outdoors for a long time.
The working principle of a wind sensor depends on the type of sensor being used. For instance, the working principle of an ultrasonic wind sensor is based on the fact that the propagation time of sound waves in the air is affected by the wind speed component. On the other hand, the working principle of a cup anemometer is quite simple as the wind cup rotations indicate the wind speed, while the arrow at the bottom of the sensor shows the direction of the wind. Wind sensors are composed of two parts, the wind sensor and the display receiver, and can be categorized into two types: wind speed sensor and wind speed and direction sensor. Accurate measurements can be obtained by installing wind sensors at the highest possible point, without any obstructions. Wind speed sensors are suitable for crane operation safety and must be mounted on the highest point of the crane’s boom, while wind speed and direction sensors are necessary for boats and should be installed on the highest point of the mast. Mechanical wind speed sensors are the most common type of wind speed sensor, and they can continuously measure wind speed and air volume.
